I bet you’ve been wondering why you haven’t heard from me for this past week or so. Well, it’s because I’m back once again in a country that’s starting to look more and more like my second home – Brazil!
And also once again, I’ve caught up with some of the movers and shakers in the Brazilian IT services market to check out the lie of the land (see Brazil – Land of opportunity?).
What I learned on this trip surprised me a little. Not the fact that the Brazilian IT services market is tagged to show 10%+ growth over the next few years. And not that some of the top players are posting growth much higher than that. What surprised me was who were the losers in the market – one of whom has headquarters not a million miles away from downtown Bombay.
I am also building up a picture – fragmented at this stage – as to what UK software companies might need to do if they want to take advantage of the explosive growth in the most important IT market in Latin America.
Anyway, when I get back to my first home next week, I will share my thoughts in the next edition of BrazilViews - for TechMarketView Foundation Service clients only, of course. Meanwhile, it’s back to the caipirinhas and the glorious sun (it is mid-winter here after all!). It’s tough … (you know the rest!).
